University of Illinois Extension Commercial Agriculture Educator Phillip Alberti has announced that results of the 2020 Midwesetern Hemp Database are now at available at Go.illinois.edu/HempDatabase! "The Midwestern Hemp Database leverages grower-collaborator networks to provide research backed, regional insight into agronomic performance and cannabinoid development of industrial hemp varieties. The report data is gathered from regional grower participants in exchange for discounted cannabinoid profiling  for CBC, CBD, CBG, CBN, and THC, made possible by our generous partners, Rock River Laboratory, Inc. and Pride Analytics & Consulting. If you are interested in participating in the future or would like further details, review the Grower Cooperation Form. This project is made possible with proud collaboration between University of Illinois Extension (Phillip Alberti), Rock River Laboratory Inc., Pride Analytics & Consulting, University of Wisconsin-Madison (Dr. Shelby Ellison), Michigan State University Extension (James Dedecker), Purdue University Extension (Marguerite Bolt). Special thanks to the over 140 grower-collaborators who contributed to this project. For more information on project design and data collection, see the Grower Data Collection Protocol.  The Midwestern Hemp Database will continue in 2021 in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan as we look to expand to other states in the Midwest! More news will be shared via this email group as well as at our website in the coming weeks.  For those of you interested, keep an eye out for news related to upcoming industrial hemp programming throughout the winter and spring months. " If you have questions / comments, please reach out to Phillip at palberti@illinois.edu

Learners will leave with knowledge of the history and legalities of hemp production, including how to grow and harvest the hemp plant, as well as the many applications that hemp has and the economics of its production. Through this course students will learn the about: Federal and state regulations Agronomic principles Farm economics (including the different hemp crops) Genetics and breeding By the end of the course the user should have sufficient knowledge to grow or consult growers in regards to production." Hi everyone! I'm wondering how harvest is going for those of you that are Growers, specifically those that grew fiber or grain. Did we have anyone get a successful fiber or grain crop? Anyone with bales that need a home? Anyone with buckets of food grade hemp seed?

In light of recent events, I have been doing a lot more cooking and baking at home. I have also been mixing hemp hearts into just about everything I make (or as many things as my kids will allow because they are so nutritious- yes, even desserts!) and have found that they are complimentary to just about everything I add them to. Especially vanilla ice cream. Anyway, I wanted to share a recipe that we found to be particularly scrumptious - Chilled Veggie "pizza" 🤗 It was simple to make and really hit the spot between farm chores. I used: crescent roll dough room-temp cream cheese raw, chopped broccoli, cauliflower, & carrot grated colby cheese hemp hearts dill, garlic, salt & pepper Here is the nutrition label for the hemp hearts - there's a lot packed into those 3 tablespoons! If you are doing any baking or cooking with hemp please share!
