I learned a lot about decorticators and processing fiber this past year. There is a company in Montana/Wyoming, don't remember name at the moment, where they are making mobile decorticators, that will not damage the stalks. Shoot me an email we can talk.
I would like to be able to harvest seed and fiber, both hurd and bast, and create three viable products from one plant This is just for my own experimentation so it wouldn't be to any certain spec. I would like to make hempcrete my self, but also sell or use the bast somehow.
I have read about hemp brakes that were and still are used but require a lot of work. There are companies that are mobile and decorticate it on site, and also the much bigger factory s. None of these options seem to be for me.
Hi @Zack, Depending on what your end goal is there may be better alternatives - are you aiming for hurd or bast? Both? Are you aiming for any specification?
@zack There is an option with Formation Ag but much it IS a lot pricier than what's in the link on Alibaba. https://formation-ag.com/products/processing/decorticator/fibertrack118 There is also this little guy, but again, higher cost! https://hurdmaster.com/
And Whitefield Global here in IL is working with farmers/fiber too if interested in plugging in: https://www.whitefieldglobal.com/fiber
@Patrice are you talking about IND Hemp?
