We are a research-driven producer of hemp genetics propelled by proven germplasm and supported by genomic crop sciences. Foundation's seeds are produced indoors in a climate-controlled and filtered facility to reduce the risk of unwanted cross-pollination associated with field and greenhouse seed breeding. Our combination of proven germplasm and controlled infrastructure allows us to produce batch after batch of proven, predictable, and productive seeds. Our top priority is to provide seeds that result in a potent, uniform, and reliable plants with consistent performance traits that allow farmers to plan for their inputs and outputs. All seed batches are third-party tested for feminization and germination rates, and we offer historical CBD and THC maturation curve matrixes and pre-harvest testing recommendations to help farmers plan accordingly for a compliant harvest.

Foundation Seeds’ roots started development in 2012 when our founders originally bred the cultivars Spectrum and The Wife.  These cultivars were selected for use in medical cannabis breeding programs to elevate CBD levels on high THC production cultivars. After seeing the potential for high-CBD and low-THC resin production, Spectrum and The Wife were included in the cannabis genome sequencing project lead by Colorado University in 2014. Results from this project indicated that both cultivars exhibited a high level of homozygosity. Since 2015, Spectrum and The Wife have been cultivated in every hemp growing season under the State Department of Agriculture guidelines across the United States. In 2019, Foundation Seeds formed to provide Spectrum, The Wife, and other CBD-rich progeny to hemp farmers around the globe.
